Women Laser Coaching Session with an Olympic flair

The Sailing season has started in earnest this September and we have seen already quite a lot of our Laser Women travelling and competing at different Club regattas across the country, while quite a few of us were waiting for the sun rays and the upcoming and long awaited Women Laser Coaching session before coming out of hibernation.  Well we have some great news, it is scheduled in a few weeks, so be prepared, try to locate your wetsuit, that missing glove, dust off that neglected boat and be there.

The NZ Laser Association have organised a free coaching session for all Laser Women on Saturday 4th November – 10:00am start and will be hosted this year at Maraetai Boat Club, home to Sue Whitiskie, one of the local Laser sailors.

Now the great news!

Our coach will be none other than New Zealand’s first and only Laser Olympic Medallist, Sam Meech.  You would have watched in trepidation at the last Olympics in Rio all his moves on the water, which he will now be able to share with you but mostly he will be able to provide you with some great tips to improve your sailing. This is an opportunity not to be missed, so be make sure you are there!

How can I attend?

If you are interested in attending please let me know grassc@gmail.com by 29th October so I can advise Sam and Sean McCrae, Maraetai Boat Club’s Commodore of the numbers. The Club has a wonderful bar and deck area, and we can have a drink afterwards in way of support of the club and to reward ourselves after a hard day on the water.

What do I need to bring?

  • Laser boat and gear
  • Yourself
  • Bring a sailing friend

Hope to see you all on the 4th November, it will be a 10:00am start, so make sure you are all rigged by that time.

I will be sending shortly in a separate e-mail, a photo summary of the women’s year since March 2017 to now, if you have some photos please do not hesitate to send these.

Many thanks
